How much do Udemy CompTIA vouchers cost?

CompTIA sets a different retail fee for each exam, and Udemy resells one prepaid attempt at a discount. The important point is that one voucher equals one exam attempt — A+ needs two vouchers, and a Retake Assurance purchase is the only way to add a second attempt without paying full price again.

A+ is two exams — budget for two vouchers

Udemy coupons never apply to vouchers. Udemy credits can sometimes be used at checkout, but the sticker price is the price. Compare the live voucher price with the CompTIA retail fee in your country: in some regions the voucher is barely cheaper.

CompTIA exam changes: 2026–2027

Three CompTIA exams in this voucher list are changing code or retiring, and two more have draft objectives with no launch date. Because CompTIA vouchers are exam-specific, the version you buy matters more than it does for AWS or Microsoft.

What the changes mean for your voucher

• CompTIA vouchers are tied to the exam code. This is the opposite of AWS, where one Associate voucher covers every Associate exam. A SY0-701 voucher books SY0-701 only.
• The retirement date overrides the voucher expiry date. A voucher that is valid for nine months is still useless for an exam that retires in three.
• Security+ is the big one. SY0-801 launches November 17, 2026, but SY0-701 stays bookable until June 11, 2027. If you are testing before then, SY0-701 is fine. If your date could slip past June 2027, wait for the SY0-801 voucher listing.
• CySA+ buyers should not accept old stock. CS0-003 retires December 22, 2026. The current exam is CS0-004, and the Udemy page should book that code.
• DataSys+ is mid-transition. DS0-002 launched October 13, 2026; DS0-001 retires April 16, 2027. Check the version at scheduling, not just the voucher title.
• Network+ and Server+ are not changing yet. Draft objectives are not launch dates. Buy N10-009 or SK0-005 if you are ready now.

Which CompTIA voucher should you buy?

Buy the exam that matches the job you want, not the course you happen to be studying. CompTIA vouchers are non-refundable and exam-specific, so the wrong code is an expensive mistake.

How to buy and redeem a CompTIA exam voucher

Udemy sells the code; CompTIA owns the certification and Pearson VUE delivers the exam. Buying and booking are two separate steps — do them in this order.

1. Confirm the current exam code and version. Use the tables above. If the exam is transitioning, book the new code — do not buy the old voucher.
2. Choose voucher-only or + Retake Assurance. Decide before checkout. Retake Assurance cannot be added later.
3. Pay on Udemy. A card or Udemy credits can be used; coupons do not apply to vouchers.
4. Copy the code from My learning → Certifications. Udemy also emails it, but your account is the source of truth. Keep the expiry date.
5. Sign in to your CompTIA certification account. Follow the scheduling link to Pearson VUE. Use the same legal name as your photo ID.
6. Schedule online or at a test centre. Paste the voucher code at the payment step. Vouchers are valid only in the country of purchase.
7. Book early enough to reschedule. Change the appointment at least 24 hours before the slot. The voucher expiry date does not move.

How Retake Assurance works on CompTIA exams

Retake Assurance is Udemy's CompTIA retake add-on. It is not AWS Second Chance, and it does not issue a new voucher code. You buy it with the original voucher, and if you fail you rebook the same exam using the same code.

1. Buy it with the original voucher. It cannot be added after checkout or after you fail.
2. Take the first exam through Pearson VUE. Normal CompTIA scheduling and ID rules apply.
3. If you fail, rebook the same exam. Use the same voucher code. There is no claim form and no new code to wait for.
4. Sit the retake before the voucher expires. The retake has an expiration date too, and it cannot be extended.
5. If you pass first time, the add-on expires unused. It is non-refundable.

The rules: one extra attempt only, non-refundable, non-transferable, and not refunded if you pass first time. CompTIA's retake policy still applies: there is no waiting period after a first failure, but a third attempt requires a 14-day wait. Retake Assurance covers the second attempt, not a third.

Udemy voucher vs booking direct with CompTIA

A Udemy voucher is convenient, but it is not automatically the best deal. Compare the live voucher price with CompTIA's retail fee, then decide whether the retake option and the shorter validity are worth it.

Yes — with one distinction that matters. Udemy is the seller of the voucher, not the exam provider. CompTIA owns the certification and Pearson VUE delivers the test. That is why the code is redeemed inside the CompTIA/Pearson VUE checkout, not inside Udemy.

Refunds, expiry and transfers

Udemy vouchers and Retake Assurance are non-refundable and non-transferable. They are valid for at least nine months from purchase, and the expiry date cannot be extended. A voucher is valid only in the country where you bought it. If you cancel an exam appointment at least 24 hours before the slot, CompTIA's cancellation policy applies to the appointment; the Udemy voucher itself is not refunded.

Are Udemy CompTIA vouchers worth it in 2026?

It depends on which price you compare. Voucher-only is a straight discount against CompTIA's retail fee. Retake Assurance is a bet on needing two attempts: it costs more than one exam but less than two.

How to prepare so you don't waste the voucher

Most candidates need 6–10 weeks for a single CompTIA exam and 10–16 weeks for A+ (two exams). Use one major course, one practice-exam set scored above 85% twice in a row, and hands-on labs for the objectives that require them. Book the voucher in your final study week so the date forces the finish, but leave enough room to reschedule if work intervenes.

• Use the official exam objectives for the current code. CompTIA publishes domains and weightings for every exam. Study to the code on the voucher, not last year's outline.
• Do not book before two clean practice runs. A voucher is a prepaid attempt, not a diagnostic. Rescheduling is allowed, but the expiry date does not move.
• Do the hands-on work. Security+ and CySA+ reward log-reading and incident-response practice; Network+ and Cloud+ reward subnetting, troubleshooting and cloud-console labs.
• For A+, take Core 1 first, then Core 2. Do not book both on the same day. The two exams test different objectives, and the second attempt is easier when the first is still fresh.
• For Security+, check the calendar before buying. If you will sit before June 11, 2027, SY0-701 is fine. If your date could slip past that, study SY0-801 objectives and wait for the new voucher listing.
• Match the course to the current code. CySA+ CS0-004, DataSys+ DS0-002 and Security+ SY0-801 materials are still catching up. Check the course's last-updated date before buying.
